This proposal was 10 months in the making and worth every.single.second. of the phone calls, emails, and planning. Brace yourselves because this proposal is either going to give you proposal envy or raise the bar for your own!

THE PLAN:

The plan had several different phases over the past 10 months – but we finally decided on a beautifully styled picnic and..the best part…Pixar’s Lava singer Kuana Torres Kahele would be performing right after the proposal! Just wait until you see the look on Lindsay’s face when she realizes that really IS THE SINGER from the movie!

Haven’t seen Lava yet? Seriously? It’s ok, I forgive you. But you should probably head on over to Youtube to CHECK IT OUT!

THE PROPOSAL:

Zack arrived on the beach with Lindsay in tow, while I hid in the woods and Kuana stayed in his car. First, they happened upon the picnic and then they sat down to enjoy the treats that were left for them. After about five minutes, Zack got up and led Lindsay to the water’s edge. At this point, Kuana was with me (visit his Facebook page to find the video!) and we were just waiting for the proposal! Zack got down on one knee and asked – and she said yes!

After the yes, we walked out on the beach and Kuana introduced himself – at which point she lost it! I’m not going to lie; I got a bit misty too! See a video of the end of Kuana’s performance at the bottom of this page!

THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION:

We stayed close to the picnic so they could enjoy some alone time but so we could also get some amazing sunset shots! The sunset that night was so beautiful and we were SO lucky because it had stormed earlier in the day!

Zack and Lindsay: Congratulations on your engagement! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful proposal. This one surely brought me to tears. And a HUGE mahalo to Kuana Torres Kahele for blessing us with your beautiful voice!

They met in college in one of their business classes. Ross remembers the first time he saw Brianna. She was the gorgeous blonde in the back of the room – and from that moment on he did everything he could to get himself close to her. I was sold on these two before I even met them. So when Ross pulled the trigger and asked me to be his Wailea engagement photographer I couldn’t wait to meet Brianna in person!

THE PLAN:

Ross knew the beach he wanted for his proposal in Wailea. Something with wide open beach that was private. I knew just the place.

THE PROPOSAL:

Ross led Brianna to the designated spot and he spun her to face him. They spent a moment talking before Ross got down on one knee. I loved Brianna’s reaction – she was so happy that she actually hug-tackled him after staying yes!!!

THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION:

When the newly-engaged couple were able to pull themselves back off the beach and into an upright position, Ross pointed me out and we began our engagement session! We began on the beach on which Ross proposed and then hit up a few more locations on Maui’s South Shore. The sunset that night was unbelievable!

Ross and Brianna – Thank you for entrusting me to be your Wailea engagement photographer. Your proposal was amazing and I loved getting to know both of you (you’re pretty much my favorite bankers ever)! I think it’s safe to say that we’re buds now Congratulations and safe travels back to Texas!

I’ll say this: working with Bespoke Destination Events is always an incredible pleasure. These two ladies put together the most beautiful fully-customized picnic for this romantic picnic proposal in Maui.

THE PLAN:

Kenny reached out to the ladies of Bespoke Destination Events, who then reached out to me, wanting to do something above-and-beyond for his girlfriend Shey. Both of them had moved here from Colorado with their dog Yogi and he felt this was the next step.

So together with Ashley and Natalie, we planned a romantic picnic, complete with Yogi, a musician (Ryan Robinson), and a little bit of magic.

THE PROPOSAL:

Kenny and Shey arrived at the beach and walked toward the picnic. It didn’t take long for Shey to realize this was for her! Of course, it was rather hard to hide Yogi! Moments later, Kenny dropped to his knee and asked her to marry him. There were plenty of tears and a clear yes!

THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION:

Because we had this beautiful set up, we stayed at this beach for the duration of our session. Ryan played some beautiful music for the two of them and they watched the sun fade into the horizon together.

This proposal was a bit different than other proposals I have done because…

1) Sung and Chei were already engaged

2) Sung re-proposed during a couple’s portrait session!

But don’t get me wrong–I loved changing it up a bit. And I really loved Sung’s reasoning behind why he wanted to propose again.

The Plan:

Because Sung really wanted to propose at sunset, we decided that Sung would tell Chei that he had scheduled a one year engage-aversary photo session for the two of them. Then, when the time was right, he would re-ask her to marry him.

According to Sung, the first proposal wasn’t Chei’s idea of the ideal proposal. He wanted to re-do it this time the way he had envisioned it happening and the way she always wanted it: down on one knee, on a beach in Hawaii.

The Proposal:

When the time was right and the sun hung just above the horizon, Sung got down on one knee with a simple white gold band to ask Chei to marry him. Chei is a professional cellist in New York, so she needed a ring that she could wear while playing her cello–this was the perfect placeholder for her already beautiful engagement ring!

Of course, she said yes–again
