Maui Roadsters Proposal
What a whirlwind trip this was for Melissa! When they started their journey from Ohio to Maui, Christopher tricked her into thinking that they were going to San Francisco. Little did she know that the flight to San Francisco was just the first leg of their journey. When they arrived in SF, he surprised her by walking to a nearby gate at the airport and letting her know they were really heading to Maui! Two days into their stay on Maui, Christopher surprised Melissa with another shocker, a Maui Roadsters Proposal!
THE PLAN:
Chris initially chose a different location than where he wound up proposing. He loved the idyllic Maui setting with palm trees and lava rock and all that good stuff. Unfortunately, the weekend that he was going to pop the question we had a King’s Tide roll through. During a King’s Tide our tides rise up to three feet and the beach he originally wanted to propose became inaccessible. We were able to catch that in time, of course, and we changed course to the Plan B location. The new location was also gorgeous with 180-degree views, incredible lava rocks jetting out into the ocean, and there was not a soul in sight.
THE PROPOSAL:
We spotted them right away when they got to the South Maui location. Christopher led Melissa straight to the lava rocks. As soon as they got out there, he dropped on one knee and asked her to marry him. Of course she said yes! She was so surprised!
THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION:
Another cool feature to this proposal is that the couple had decided to rent a Maui Roadster for the day. Of course, we incorporated the awesome 1957 Porsche Speedster replica into the shoot. Not only did we get to go to several different locations during their engagement session, but we also got to get some awesome shots of the newly engaged couple in this classic car that they rented. It added a cool 1950’s flair to their South Maui shoot, scarf in her hair and everything!
