Underwater Snorkeling Proposal in Maui, Hawaii
Both Addie and Mike have a deep love for the ocean and exploration, so a unique underwater snorkeling proposal in Maui, Hawaii seemed fitting!
THE PLAN:
Mike reached out to me wanting to propose to his sweetie Addie and I was over the moon and ready to help! But here’s the thing, I’m not an underwater photographer. I’ve thought about doing it from time to time, but the fact of the matter is that I’m more of a land critter than an ocean one. But the good news is that I knew just the guy to call. I reached out to Matias of NV Media Maui to photograph this amazing proposal. He was on board (literally).
We worked with Matias and Captain Mike of the Kahaloa (a private charter set up by Barefoot Tom’s Tours) to come up with a plan so we all knew what was going to happen. Captain Mike suggested that the proposal happen off the coast of Lana’i, where the water was calm, clear, and there was no one around.
THE PROPOSAL:
We used a signal when Mike and Addie got in the water – that meant that Mike was ready to pop the question! So Matias was ready with the camera for when the big moment happened! Mike pulled the ring out of his pocket (don’t worry, it was sewn in there) and asked her to marry him. She was SO surprised and said YES!
THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION:
Since we were out in the middle of the ocean, the engagement session happened underwater! I love these images of Addie and Mike swimming toward each other!
