Beyond Sundown Proposal Session on the South Shore
Jessie contacted me wanting to do a romantic sunset proposal on a beautiful Maui beach, so the Simple Proposal Package was just right for him. While we planned on a lovely sunset session, who knew that it would wind up turning into a beyond sundown proposal session on the South Shore!
THE PLAN:
We chose a spot in South Maui based on the backdrops. We have Kaho’olawe along with the Molokini Crater which make for a super cool background instead of just straight ocean. Having some islands in the background changes up the whole look for the photo shoot.
THE PROPOSAL:
Jessie and Romina hit some traffic while driving to the location, so it was getting late when they finally arrived to the beach. I was hidden, ready and waiting for them, and when they arrived I was snapping away. The happy couple walked down the beach, Jessie knowing that he wanted to get to the shoreline to propose while there was still light, and guided her directly to the water’s edge. He dropped to one knee and proposed right as the sun was hitting the horizon behind Kaho’olawe. It was really romantic! That made for some incredibly beautiful ambient light during the proposal itself.
THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION:
This was a new beach that we had not shot at before. It is one of the southernmost beaches heading toward Makena. It was mostly empty which was great, and we even had some whales in the background before the couple showed up. We extended our session pretty far past sundown because we wanted to make sure we got all the shots we wanted to get for them. We got a bunch of these two playing on the beach and laughing together! And staying past sundown made for some really cool after dark and silhouette shots.
Jessie and Romina: Congratulations on your beyond sundown proposal session on the South Shore. The light that night after sundown was so beautiful, I’m actually grateful for the traffic that slowed you down that evening!
