Private Beach Proposal in Maui, Hawaii

They met in college at Malibu and right off the bat, Rob knew that Keanna was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Rob is a frills kind of guy. He wanted something sweet, personal, and on the beach at sunset. This private beach proposal in Maui was one of those proposals where everything was perfect: his sweet note, the cork from the first bottle of wine they shared, and – the best part – her reaction.

THE PLAN:

A few weeks before the proposal, Rob sent me a box and, separately, the cork from that first night they stayed up chatting late into the night. It was signifying the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

“From the moment I saw her walk into the room I fell in love. I told her I loved her within the first week of us dating. We will have been dating for almost a year and a half when I propose. She reminds me of my grandmother and mother all wrapped into one; two women I am very close to and have impacted me greatly. She is my best friend, and the only person I want to be around at the end of the day. Whether good, bad, happy, upset, or whatever, she is the one person I can turn to and the one who I feel comfortable opening up to.”

If I’m going to be honest, I was choking back the tears when I read that. I knew that Keanna was something special and I was so happy to help pull this off!

THE PROPOSAL:

Rob and Keanna were right on time. The box had to be hidden away from the rocks because of the high surf, but Rob didn’t miss a beat. She found the box and was blown away! This may be one of the best reactions I’ve ever seen! Rob got down on one knee and she said “YES!”

THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION:

Because Rob chose the Simple proposal, we had a quick engagement session at that very beach and the sun slowly sank below the horizon. The sunset that night was a warm pink and yellow glow – and the joy between these two was just contagious.
