Road to Hana Proposal
High school sweethearts, Steve and Vikky, came to Maui in June. After 11 years together, Steve was ready to pop the question and knew he wanted a Road to Hana proposal. Once the initial idea was decided, we happily helped him iron out the details on a gorgeous location and a plan for how to get Vikky dressed up for the engagement shoot after the proposal.
THE PLAN:
First, Steve planned on taking Vikky to the Road to Hana early one morning. He wanted to pop the question just as they began their trek to Hana, and we knew just the right spot to do that. Before they headed out for the morning, Steve told Vikky they were headed to brunch at Mama’s Fish House (one of my all-time favorite restaurants). This was just the excuse he needed so she’d get all dressed up for the proposal!
THE PROPOSAL:
Finally, all dressed up and ready to go, they swung by a north shore beach to start their Road to Hana adventure. So, Steve led Vikky out to the beach. Vikky thought it was going to be just a quick stop before heading to brunch and then continue on their adventure. But, of course, it was more than just that! It was a gorgeous, sunny day with bright blue skies. This north shore beach was mostly empty that morning. They walked slowly, hand in hand down the beach. Then he stopped when he found the perfect spot. There, he dropped to one knee and popped the question. She said a big YES!
THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION:
We spent the next hour or so tooling around the north shore. We even stopped by the beach at Mama’s Fish House. During the shoot, we found a couple cool trees for the newly engaged couple to snuggle up on. These were some of my favorite images of the session. I just can’t get over how the light was streaming through the leaves just right for each of the tree shots.
Steve and Vikky: Congratulations on your engagement! We loved working with you to make your Road to Hana proposal a success! We are honored you chose Engaged on Maui to capture your special moment.
